Caprio’s official Instagram account revealed his death on August 20, 2025, saying he “passed away peacefully” after a “long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.” Caprio was known for giving empathy instead of harsh punishments. One famous episode from 2017 showed Caprio throwing away a bereaved mother’s stack of parking tickets while he was famous. She had lost her kid, and the judge’s kind decision sent a message that went beyond the courtroom: everyone deserves to be forgiven and understood.

One person even called him “Father of Justice.”
