This is a rare show of casual charm. Fans and people going to work saw the Emirati leader striding across the city in a plain green t-shirt and jeans, surrounded by bodyguards. He fit right in with the metropolis.
Meanwhile, his son, Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, opted for a more formal engagement, appearing at the Global Champions Arabians Tour, which marked its much-anticipated UK debut at the iconic Royal Hospital Chelsea (a four-day event that began on August 14).
The father-son duo showcased a striking contrast in public persona—Sheikh Mohammed demonstrated his trademark humility and ease, while the Crown Prince celebrated the glory of elite equestrian sport alongside other royal family members.
About the Ruler
Born in 1949, Sheikh Mohammed began his public service career in 1968 as the Head of Dubai Police and Public Security, later becoming the UAE’s Minister of Defence in 1971. He ascended to the Crown Prince of Dubai in 1995 and took on the roles of Ruler, Vice President, and Prime Minister in 2006. A lover of poetry, falconry, and equestrian pursuits, Sheikh Mohammed continues to embody the spirit of both modern leadership and traditional Emirati heritage.

About the Crown Prince
